Dr. St. Clair’s lab studies breeding, genetics and genomics of quantitatively inherited traits in crop plants, including resistance to biotic (diseases and pests) and abiotic stresses. They also examine the genetic and genomic basis of quantitative trait loci (QTLs), QTL mapping, marker-assisted introgression of QTL alleles from wild to cultivated species. Additional interests are plant genetic diversity and use in breeding, pre-breeding and development of improved germplasm.
