Graduate Academic Unit Certificate Program
The Plant Breeding Center is currently developing a Graduate Academic Unit Certificate (GAUC) in Plant Breeding at UC Davis. GAUCs are open to current students enrolled in a graduate degree program. A GAUC is a structured sequence of courses and requirements that focus on a specialty or area of expertise not offered by a regular graduate degree program. GAUCs are administered by a UC Davis instructional unit (professional school, department, graduate group or a designated emphasis program), and are an additional sequence of training and expertise for graduate students. GAUCs consist of a minimum of 12 units of graduate level instruction, and are recognized by transcript notation and an official certificate issued by UC Davis with the gold seal of the University of California. A list of GAUCs can be found here.
The Plant Breeding GAUC is currently in the approval process and is not available to graduate students yet. We do have a list of proposed courses which we hope to have approved in the '22-'23 academic year.
They are as follows:
PLS205 – Experimental Design (5 cr.)
PLS220/GGG220 – Genomics and Biotechnology of Plant Improvement (3 cr.)
PLS222 – Advanced Plant Breeding (4 cr.)
PLS225 – Quantitative Genetics (4 cr.)
We will send out an email alert and post information on out website and social media when the GAUC in Plant Breeding is approved. For questions, contact Amanda Saichaie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
